33 Weeks..Going on 34

Just thought I'd also post a belly update!

Can't believe I have another month and a half to go!

Starting the Nursery

Well, we've finally started working on the nursery!  Over Christmas break, Rudy and I finally ordered the crib, dresser/changing table to put in the nursery.  Rudy got started on building everything as soon as the items arrived.

My brother, Jason, and my sister-in-law, Elizabeth, came over this past weekend to help start decorating the nursery.  They took over the painting of the nursery - they did an amazing job!  I am so thankful to have my family around to help out with preparing for Kosta's arrival.

Here are some pictures of the nursery so far...(I know I still have a long way to go before it's done.)

Jason taping up the room.

Elizabeth starting on the first wall.

Hard at work.

Progress!
Green walls - one light and the other a little darker.

I don't think the pictures do the room justice because they don't capture the true color of the room.

Here are some more pictures with the furniture back in the room.

Yes, I know the knobs on the drawers are different...I will be getting matching ones soon.

Now, I just have to finish getting the wall decorations, drapes, and some other things to finish up the nursery!  Thanks to my family for all of the help - I love you all!!

Arrival to US

Ok - this is just a quick post.  I just wanted to post a picture of my arrival to the US.  Finally home after 4 years in Costa Rica.  Unfortunately, I am pale and about 20lbs heavier than my departure from the US to Costa Rica - ha ha.  I can hear Rudy now "You're not fat, you're pregnant!!" LOL

Anyway, I am so happy I won't have to fly again for a long long while!

Here's my arrival to GSP - me and Mama!

It's official....

Well, it's official...I can no longer see my feet!  I looked down the other day before stepping into the shower and was surprised to NOT see my feet anymore!  I kept trying to stand in a different position so that I could see them, but it was just not happening.  Guess it was bound to happen sometime..ha ha.

Anyway, a lot has been going on since my last post.  Rudy and I flew back to Costa Rica on the 31st of December only for me to have to turn around and fly back on the 10th of January.  I wasn't supposed to be coming back until around 35 weeks pregnant, which was around February 6th; however, I wasn't feeling very well so I came home early.

Rudy and I decided it was best for me to come on home because we don't have a car anymore, which meant if there was an emergency, we'd be in big trouble.  It also doesn't help that the closest hospital is an hour and a half away, and the ambulances there are highly unreliable.

When I got to Costa Rica on the 31st, everything started going downhill.  I felt terrible - I had nosebleeds almost every night, upset stomach, very high and very low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, and many other crazy symptoms.  My first thought was that I was developing preeclampsia, which may develop into toxemia.  My Mama had toxemia with my older brother, Drew, so I knew it was possible that I am at risk as well.

Since my return to the US, I've been to my doctor quite a few times because she was also worried that I may be developing preeclampsia.  Luckily, after many blood tests, urine tests, and another ultrasound, I do not have preeclampsia.  After all my labs came back with good results, we decided all of my symptoms were probably related to the change in environment as well as stress.

Anyway, I believe I promised pregnancy highlights in my previous post so here we go:

How far along: 32 weeks and 3 days

Size of baby: Squash (according to my ultrasound, he's weighing in around 3 lbs!!)

Movement: Definitely a lot of movement.  I know they say the movement will slow down because he will get bigger and not have as much room, but his kicks and punches seem more frequent as well as stronger.

Sleep:  Some nights I sleep well and others not so well.  Last night was a not-so-well kind of night - I just couldn't get comfortable because I think he was pressing on my sciatic nerve, which was making my back ache and leg numb.

Cravings:  Sweets...and more sweets! Any kind of sweets!!  I have a big assortment bag with laffy taffy/sweetarts/gobstoppers/nerds...BAD IDEA!

Sick?:  I was, but I am feeling a lot better.

Showing yet?:  Ohhhh yeeeeah. I cannot see my feet anymore :( hahaha

Maternity clothes: Yep!  However, I do not have enough...guess I need to go shopping!

Belly button in or out?: It's finally an OUTIE!

Weight gain: I'd rather not talk about it...haha

Missing anything?:  My husband!! I miss him so so so much.  It's hard not having him around for this time...I know he'll be here in a month or so, but it's hard going to sleep at night without him.  I miss him a lot, especially whenever Kosta kicks because I want to scream "Babe, come feel Kosta!!" but he's not here :(

High of the week:  Finding out that I don't have preeclampsia.  It's been a stressful time so getting that news was the best thing this week!

Blame It On The Holidays

Rudy, Kosta, and I spent our first Christmas in the U.S. together this year...or "last year" since today is January 2, 2012.  (It's going to take me a while to get used to writing 2012).  We had such a great time seeing everyone and eating all the good food.  I think Kosta and I enjoyed the food a little too much.

And this is where I begin to blame it on the holidays.  OK - so when I arrived in the United States on December 10th I had no idea how much weight I gained since my last visit three months before.  I had my first appointment on the 15th for a little check-up, glucose test, and ultrasound.  I was so surprised to find out that I had only gained 10 pounds so far going into my 7th month of pregnancy.

Little did I know that would all change while being in the U.S. for 3 weeks for the holidays.  My next appointment was a little over 2 weeks after my first and I knew I gained weight since my stomach was starting to look like a watermelon.  Well, I was right - I gained 6 pounds!  I was freaking out because just 3 weeks before I had only gained 10 pounds the entire pregnancy.  Luckily the doctor reassured me that I am still gaining the right amount of weight.

I am hoping I will be able to keep my weight on track now that I am back in Costa Rica.  I know I eat healthier while I am here so it shouldn't be a problem...I think? Ha ha.

Anyway, I am currently 30 weeks and a day pregnant today.  I can't believe it's been a month since my last post - I'm such a slacker!  Well, I guess this means its time to reveal the damage the holidays have done so far - ha ha.

So there you have it...my belly is not so little anymore.  Guess it was only a matter of time until it blew up like a balloon :)  People keep telling me it's all baby - I hope they're not just saying that so I won't get my feelings hurt...because I highly doubt anyone would say "Wow Stephanie, you've gained weight and it's not all baby"  Oh well...guess a little white lie won't hurt right now ;)

Anyway, the past month was a busy one.  We are still trying to prepare for Kosta, which is kind of hard to do all the way from here.  I think we have the basics together so far - crib, changing table/dresser, pack'n'play playard, stroller/car seat, infant carriers, etc...  We're still working on getting the nursery together, which is going to be amazing since I have the help of the best mama and sister-in-law in the world!

Well, I guess it's time for me to sign off - I am starting to get distracted and lose my train of thought..thanks to pregnancy brain!  I'll come back later and do an update of pregnancy highlights.
